Review of "My Book about Brains, Change and Dementia"
By Lynda MooreJessica Kingsley, 2018
Review by Christian Perring on Nov 20th 2018
This little illustrated book for very young children helps them understand why people with dementia appear strange or behave on odd ways. It says their brains are not working properly, and that causes problems. It also emphasizes that it is not the fault of the person with dementia, whatever they do, but it is ok for children to have any feelings in reaction to what the person with dementia does. There are a couple of pages that raise the issue of death, and these are carefully flagged so they can be skipped if the child is not ready for them. This book could be useful for families with a member who has dementia.
