Review of "I Wasn't Ready to Say Goodbye"

I Wasn't Ready to Say Goodbye

Noel and Blair's I Wasn't Ready To Say Goodbye ranks right up there with When Bad Things Happen To Good People to help people deal with the sudden loss of a loved one. Particularly helpful is the degree of permissiveness to grieve in one's own unique way without regarding it as pathological in a supportive and nonjudgmental way. It is informative and practical, yet personal and warm. This book can be read by most who grief as it has a welcoming and inviting style, while being solid enough for most professionals who deal with the grieving to learn new aspects of the grieving process. It is both practical and instructive, taking a developmental approach to grieve with the understanding that one doesn't simply "get over it," but deals at various stages down the road. I particularly like the sections devoted to children and to special occasions and challenges as these are frequently overlooked in these kinds of books. I highly recommend it.
